One of the things I've learned in life the hard way, is not to judge people.
It's so easy to get caught up in your own world, thinking you know everything about how everyone should be, act, what they should do, say, and how they should handle everything. It's easy to judge and be opinionated about so many things. But it's so true that you have no idea what each person is going through in their lives, on the inside, what feelings and struggles and hardships people are facing. It's easy to judge when your life looks great. But it's another thing to be compassionate and realize that everyone has their own journey to go through and you never know what they are facing unless you walk in their shoes. You just don't know why they are doing what they are doing. Maybe it's the best they can do. Maybe it's the only thing they can do. Maybe it's because they don't know better, or they can't do better, or they are dealing with their own struggles or suffering that you know nothing of. Please be kind and resist the urge the judge. Think the best of people. Offer a helping hand. A smile. A word of encouragement. But please don't judge. You have no idea what they are up against.
Everyone can use a kind word and a smile. Everyone can use compassion. Everyone can use encouragement or a helping hard.
Remember this: Don't judge someone unless you've walked in their shoes.
Be kind. Walk in love and compassion. It is always the right thing to do.
Love,
Your mom.
